Gates Of Wadi Qafifah Dam Opened For Drainage Of Water

Ibra: The Directorate General of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources in the North Al Sharqiyah Governorate has opened the doors of the Wadi Qafifah Dam in the Wilayat of Ibra for limited water drainage.

Due to the strong flow of wadis in the wilayats of Ibra and Dima Wal Taein, a large amount of water had accumulated in the dam; Ibra recorded 16 mm of rain, while the Wilayat of Dima Wal Taein received 5 mm.

The release of water from the reservoir, which has a storage capacity of over 926,000 cubic metres, was intended to prepare the dam for the flow of wadis in the following days.

Notably, the Wadi Qafifah Dam, which was inaugurated in 2023, is overseen by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Water Resources. The dam is 122 meters long and 24. 3 meters tall.

The dam features two drainage channels, each 630 mm in diameter and having a drainage capacity of 3. 55 cubic metres per second.
