Khasab, located in the Musandam Governorate, marked a significant milestone on Monday with the arrival of the inaugural tourism vessel during the winter season. This vessel departed from Dubai, carrying a total of 638 tourists and 1180 crew members from various nations.
The festivities were graced by a diverse array of activities, including heritage sections, an exhibition showcasing local productive families and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), and guided tours for the tourists. These tours were designed to explore the region's key heritage, historic, and tourism landmarks, as well as to visit the beaches within the governorate.
Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Kamzari, representing the Heritage and Tourism Department in Musandam Governorate, highlighted the importance of tourism vessels during the peak season. He emphasized that these vessels play a crucial role in diversifying the sources of income and boosting the local economy. They attract significant tourism investments and contribute to the development of the tourism sector.
Looking ahead, Khasab Port is anticipated to welcome 46 tourism vessels during the winter season of 2024/2025. This represents an increase from the previous year's peak, with 52 tourism vessels and 76,156 tourists.
