Ibra: A farmers' forum held in North Al Sharqiyah Governorate on Thursday emphasized the necessity of establishing an integrated agricultural system to boost green production and stimulate innovation in Oman's farming sector.
The participants agreed that the planned system would enhance national food security while keeping up with sustainable development trends.
The North Al Sharqiyah Governorate branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry (OCCI) organized the forum in collaboration with the Oman Agricultural Association and several private sector organizations. The forum focused on establishing a safe agricultural environment to enhance food security.
The forum featured three working papers. The first addressed the national significance of food security, the second emphasized the human aspect of maintaining food security as a life-sustaining factor, and the third highlighted the need of adopting an integrated pest control management system to ensure the safety of agricultural products.
The forum was organized by Mohammed bin Nasser Al Maskari, Chairman of the Board of Directors for North A'Sharqiyah Governorate's branch of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and attended by government officials, farmers, business owners, and agricultural stakeholders.
