"Disappointing End To The Series But...": England Skipper Livingstone After Defeat To Windies In 3rd ODI

Bridgetown: Captain Liam Livingstone reflected upon England's ODI series defeat against the West Indies, acknowledging the disappointment but also highlighting the positive moments experienced by the team.

In the third ODI match at Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Brandon King and Keacy Carty were instrumental in leading the West Indies to an eight-wicket victory over England.

With this win in the final game, the Caribbean team secured a 2-1 series victory over the visiting team.

Livingstone concluded the ODI series as the second-highest run-scorer with 178 runs at a strike rate of 120.27 from the three matches.

During the post-match ceremony, Livingstone emphasized the valuable lessons and experiences gained from the series, despite the team's absence due to injuries. He also noted the significant number of new players on the team, who would benefit greatly from this experience.

"I believe we put up a strong fight, and the team performed exceptionally well in the final innings. It was a disappointing end to the series, yet there were moments of success for us. This series has provided us with numerous lessons and experiences, much to learn from. We were short-staffed in this series, with many new players joining us, and they will undoubtedly learn a great deal from this experience," Livingstone stated.

Reflecting on the match, following their decision to field, the West Indies team demonstrated resilience, with Phil Salt (74 runs from 108 balls, including four fours and one six) setting the pace for England. The wicketkeeper-batter was the highest scorer for England in this match.

In the middle order, the visiting team struggled to establish a partnership, managing only 263/8 on the board in the first innings.

Matthew Forde emerged as the leading bowler for the Caribbean, taking three wickets for 35 runs.

During the chase for the runs, Brandon King (102 runs from 117 balls, including 13 fours and one six) and Keacy Carty (128 runs from 114 balls, with 15 fours and two sixes) played pivotal roles in securing an eight-wicket victory for the Windies.

The English bowlers were less effective in the second innings, failing to protect the target of 264 runs. Reece Topley and Jamie Overton were the only bowlers to manage to take wickets for England. In the end, the visiting team succumbed to an eight-wicket defeat in the third ODI match.
