Dhofar Municipal Council Discusses Development, Service Projects

Salalah: The Municipal Council of Dhofar Governorate deliberated on Tuesday various developmental, service, housing, and environmental initiatives, as well as ways to improve them throughout the governorate's wilayats.

The council also assessed the preparedness of pertinent authorities for Khareef Dhofar (monsoon season) 2025.

During its sixth meeting this year, chaired by HH Sayyid Marwan bin Turki Al Said, Governor of Dhofar and Chairman of the Council, the council was updated on the Directorate General of Housing and Urban Planning's activities in the governorate. This came after a field visit to the directorate to evaluate the services offered and operational mechanisms, as well as tours of multiple regions, including the Al Shorouq neighborhood and Al Dahariz area, to determine future visions and plans for the Future City project.

As part of its aim to make a qualitative leap in tourism and service guidance in Dhofar, the council presented various plans to digitalize directional signs in the governorate. This effort intends to enhance the experiences of visitors and tourists by offering information about tourist attractions, landmarks, and service amenities.

Dhofar Municipality provided a visual presentation of the Green Belt initiative, which seeks to combat desertification, enhance air quality, and expand vegetation cover in the wilayats of Dhofar. The municipality is implementing this strategic environmental plan gradually, beginning with urban and industrial regions, depending on available resources.

The council discussed various themes in meetings of its key committees with relevant authorities.
