Dambulla T20I: Pathum Nissanka's Fifty Guides Sri Lanka To Victory Over West Indies By 73 Runs

Dambulla: The Sri Lankan team, led by Pathum Nissanka's remarkable fifty and the exceptional bowling performance of the bowlers, secured a victory over the West Indies by 73 runs in the second T20I of the three-match series at the Rangiri Dambula International Stadium on Tuesday.

Pathum Nissanka contributed 54 runs from 49 balls, which included nine fours and a six.

The visitors, on a total of 162 runs, were dismissed for 89 runs in the 17th over of the innings. The highest scorer for Sri Lanka was the captain, Rovman Powell, who scored 20 runs from 17 balls, aided by one four and one six. Alzarri Joseph (16 runs from 10 balls with one four and one six) and Sherfane Rutherford (14 runs in 16 balls with two boundaries) were the only other West Indies players to score double digits.

Dunith Wellalage, the left-arm spinner for Sri Lanka, emerged as the highest wicket-taker with three wickets in his four overs, conceding only nine runs.

Maheesh Theekshana, Charith Asalanka, and Wanindu Hasaranga each took two wickets, while Matheesha Pathirana, the right-arm seamer, managed to take one wicket in his two overs, conceding 12 runs.

Earlier in the day, the Sri Lankan captain, Asalanka, won the toss and chose to bat first.

In their first innings, the Asian Lions amassed 162 runs, losing only five wickets.

Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis, and Kusal Perera were among the notable batsmen for Sri Lanka, scoring 26, 26, and 24 runs respectively.

For the West Indies, Shepherd emerged as the standout bowler, taking two wickets in his three overs, conceding 23 runs.

Joseph, Shamar Joseph, and Shamar Springer each took one wicket.
