Muscat: The Sultan Qaboos Higher Center for Culture and Science (SQHCCS) has issued an official statement in response to rumors circulating on social media regarding entrance fees for the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque.
The statement clarified that these fees are designed solely to manage visitor access rather than to serve as a general admission charge. It underscored that the Grand Mosque is the premier tourist destination in Oman, and the increasing number of visitors has made it necessary to implement a management system to maintain the mosque's facilities and ensure a positive experience for all.
According to the SQHCCS, "In light of current needs, the authority overseeing the Grand Mosque has collaborated with the private sector to enhance the cultural significance of the mosque and to create opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises to engage in related projects."
The statement also mentioned that the contracted company is tasked with organization, cleanliness, and security, and has hired 35 Omani guides proficient in multiple languages to assist visitors.
Furthermore, it was emphasized that the mosque remains open to Muslims during prayer times, and the fees do not apply to visits for religious, cultural, or educational purposes.
