Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman has issued a clarification concerning the payment of fees associated with money transfers through the Mobile Payment System (MPCSS).
The Central Bank of Oman has affirmed that the responsibility for payment processing fees rests with the merchant, not the customer, as long as the transaction is conducted through the merchant's quick response code (Merchant QR Code), which offers the lowest fees among alternative payment methods.
Furthermore, the Central Bank of Oman clarified that the deduction of a transfer fee of 100 baisas is permissible only for transactions involving the transfer of funds between beneficiaries from one bank to another, rather than for purchases made at stores.
In a statement, the Central Bank of Oman expressed its keen interest in addressing the misinformation circulating on social media platforms regarding the absence of fees for transfers through the Mobile Payment System (MPCSS).
The Central Bank of Oman emphasizes the importance of verifying the accuracy of information and sourcing news from credible and authorized sources.
