Bylaw Issued To Regulate Operation Of Independent Tankers In Water, Wastewater Sectors

Muscat: A bylaw has been released by the Authority for Public Services Regulation (APSR) to manage the activities of independent tankers operating within the water and wastewater sector.

This bylaw has been implemented based on the stipulations set forth in the Water and Wastewater Sector Regulation Law, established by Royal Decree No. 40/2023. It also aligns with legislative efforts aimed at improving operational efficiency and standardizing services in this crucial sector.

The bylaw delineates the responsibilities of independent tanker operators regarding the transport and distribution of water. Additionally, it organizes the collection of wastewater and the transport and provision of treated water. Consequently, the bylaw is expected to elevate service quality and set forth principles for operational and technical governance, adhering to established and accepted standards.

The introduction of this bylaw signifies APSR's commitment to enhancing the regulatory framework of the water and wastewater sector while maintaining a balance of interests among all stakeholders involved. It also emphasizes the pursuit of operational excellence and high-quality service, coinciding with the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to sustainability and the objectives outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
