New Delhi [India]: A man has been apprehended for allegedly raping a British woman at a hotel in the Mahipalpur area of Delhi, while another individual has been detained on charges of molestation, according to Delhi police on Thursday.
As reported by the police, the woman had traveled from the UK to meet the accused, whom she had connected with via social media.
The case came to light when the victim reported the incident to the police, prompting them to file a report and arrest both suspects.
Authorities stated that the woman arrived in Delhi and checked into a hotel room where she met the man on Tuesday. However, she soon sensed that he was trying to assault her, which led to a confrontation between them. The accused then allegedly raped her. The woman managed to escape and reached the hotel reception, but while attempting to leave, she was reportedly molested by another man in the elevator.
Delhi Police have taken both suspects into custody and have notified the British High Commission regarding the incident. An investigation is currently ongoing.
