All England Open: Sindhu, Satwiksairaj-Chirag To Lead Indian Challenge

Birmingham: Two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu will spearhead India's efforts at the 2025 All England Open badminton tournament, commencing in Birmingham on Tuesday.

Currently ranked 15th, Sindhu will make her return to competitive play for the first time since the Indonesia Masters in January, according to Olympics.com.

In the women's singles category, India will also be represented by world number 28 Malvika Bansod.

In the men's division, Lakshya Sen, ranked 10th globally, stands as India's highest-seeded player. He may face world number 30 HS Prannoy in the quarterfinals, provided both advance to that round.

Lakshya reached the semifinals of the All England Championships last year, where he was defeated by champion Jonatan Christie, and he was the men's singles runner-up two years ago.

Additionally, the prominent Indian men's doubles team of Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, currently ranked seventh and returning from the Indonesia Masters in January, will also compete.

In women's doubles, India will be represented by the two-time All England semifinalists Treesa Jolly-Gayatri Gopichand and Tanisha Crasto-Ashwini Ponnappa, along with Priya Konjengbam-Shruti Mishra.

The mixed doubles event will feature Indian pairs Rohan Kapoor-Ruthvika Gadde, Sathish Kumar Karunakaran-Aadya Variyath, and Dhruv Kapila-Tanisha Crasto.

The All England Open is regarded as the most prestigious event on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) World Tour calendar, with only two Indian players, Prakash Padukone and Pullela Gopichand, having claimed victory in the singles category.
